Happy Holiday's Friends & Family
Happy Holiday's Friends & Family,
It's been three years since we embarked on our mission to educate, support, and fund raise for APS Type 1 Disorder. Over the past three years we've established a website and with Dr Maclaren's help answering many questions about APS Type 1 from families around the world. We are heading towards $200,000 dollars raised in research funds having two research grants at Johns Hopkins and the University of California already in process, and we've been lucky to have a great network of APS Type 1 Families assist many new parents with the challenging questions of care and management of this often challenging disorder.
We are extremely thankful for all the help and support ALL of you have given us this year. Here are just a few of our 2009 highlights:
- Our Annual APS Type 1 "Driving For a Cure" Golf Outing broke the $20,000 dollar mark in annual contributions in just it's 3rd year. We will have our date for our 2010 event locked down shortly so stay tuned!
- We launched a redesigned website with the assistance and leadership of our Website Guru Dana Rawding. If you haven't seen it please take a look...it's beautiful. Thanks Dana! www.apstype1.org
- Dave and Sherri Seyfert continue to challenge our golf outing each year with their outstanding fund-raiser, also in it's 3rd Year...The Three Village "Auction For a Cure" also raised over $10,000 dollars this year and continues to be one of our critical fund-raising events. (A screen shot of their event is noted below)
- Since our first 2 research grants were established for over $80,000 we have continued to drive our fund-raising and have a combined total Research Bank Account with NORD of $44,000 that will prepare us with seed money for our next round of research.
- We've talked about establishing our own 501C3 nonprofit organization which requires a lot of time, commitment, and money. Although we aren't there yet it's something we continue to throw around and may be in our future someday.
All of us with children of APS Type 1 have watched our children grow and develop this year. We've struggled through some challenging illnesses, shared our thoughts around annual vaccines and H1N1 management, and have grown as a resource to each other as we progress along this journey together. I'm proud to be a part of this family and I thank them all for their continued support.
This is the time of year that we give thanks so Thank You one and all. If your situation can accommodate financial support we always welcome your help as we continue to work to raise the funds for research. You can go to our website which has a direct link to NORD. Click on the "Help us raise money for research" link. Your contributions are Tax Deductible!
Have a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday, a Safe and HEALTHY New Year.
The Talarico's. (Todd, Heather, and Gaby)
